BLOC PARTY

t was 2005, where I heard this catchy tune on KROQ. This song I'm talking about, I'm pretty sure you heard of it"Banquet", sound familier? This band had me on my feet. So I decide to go to a private secret show in hollywood to check them out.


Once the band came on stage, of course they started the show with 'Banquet' but the rest of the show made me go get the album right AWAY! This ALBUM is called "Silent Alarm". It was released in Feb 2005.


I knew they were getting big once they started headlining great Festivals. I had to go check them out again, So I went to Coachella 06. Once I knew they were part of the line-up, I said "Hell yea I'm there". Keep me in mind folks Coachella always has good line-ups =).

Now time for INFO on this band. Bloc Party have been together since 1999. They had a few titles for their band such as 'Superheroes of BMX, Diet, Union'..etc you pretty much get the picture. So band members settled with Bloc Party in 2002.

Bloc Party is an English indie rock band. Their is 4 band memebers Kele Okereke (lead vocals,guitar), Russell Lissack (Lead Guitar), Gordon Moakes (Bass), & Matt Tong (Drums). A few of their inspirations are The Cure, Joy Division, Radiohead,&Sonic Youth. Totally dark but catchy bands.

Their breakthrough moment was by giving BBC Radio 1 DJ Steve Lamacq and Franz Ferdinand's lead singer a copy of their demo "She's Hearing Voices". This band has been putting things together for over a decade. Let's hope this band stays together.

Incubus

It all started at the age of 17, when I heard "Morning View" album. I was hooked on the track 'Are You In' , and I remember that was a new track that had been added to the album. So this one time my brother mentioned "Hey KROQ are giving away tickets to see 2 shows of Incubus, 1 private show at a secret mansion".


So one day I was determined to win tickets. The way it worked was if you were to hear an incubus song you would have to be caller 20. So then it was 5:00 pm where I kept calling and BAM! Jed The Fish answered and said "You're caller 20. I just remember screaming, and the guy next to me looked at me all strange....lol... The best part was that I won the tickets on my bday month. The prize was 2 concerts, one at the Verizon Amphitheater on Halloween night. The second show was private in a mansion in Point Dume, where they had recorded the album Morning View.


The most memorable moment was the private show, because I got to shake hands with the band members. Not only did I have FRONT ROW both times at the concerts. It was my very first concert and I started with a BANG. They had sounded exactly the same LIVE just like in the album.


Incubus major label debut landed in 1997 with 'Enjoy'. Later that year, with the release of S.C.I.E.N.C.E. By 1999 Incubus made it in the mainstream scene. In the summer of 2000, they had main stage at Ozzfest. Which exposed Incubus even more.


In 2003, the band made several changes. One was including the replacement of member Dirk Lance with Bass Player Ben Kenney. Ben is a former guitarist of the funk,hip-hop group The Roots. The band Incubus has been around since 1991. Incubus is an American Rock band from Calabasas,California. That's right folks they're from Cali =]]]]

Band Members: Brandon Boyd (vocals), Mike Einziger (Guitar), Jose Passillas (Drums), and Ben Kenney (Bass). The band expanded to include Alex 'Dirk Lance' Katunich (Bass) and Gavin 'DJ Lyfe' Kopell, both of whom were replaced by Ben Kenney and Dj Kilmore.


The Last ALBUM that was released was in 2009 which is "Monuments and Melodies"

YEAH YEAH YEAHS

I Remember it was the year 2004 that I was watching A MTV Award Show. The YeaH Yeah Yeahs performed the single "Maps" and I said to myself "Oh I Love This Song".I started to think they had sounded different live according to the performance, in a bad way though. As I continue to watch the MTV performance I was kind of disappointed.
As years pass by, they had great singles on the radio and were booked to perform at Coachella 06. Now Coachella is a big festival that has 5 stages. So I saw Gnarls Barkley at the same time they were performing. Now 3 years later they had a new album "It's Blitz" and were booked to perform at Caochella 09. Now I said I'm not going to miss them again.


Now I remember this like it was yesterday, once I saw Karen O (singer) walk on stage I got really excited. She stepped on stage with her custom made leather studded jacket and a Heineken Beer on her hand. I just thought Janis Joplin reincarnated with a mixture of Joan Jett. They performed like if it was their last. Felt a lot of passion through the music. Let me tell you. was I WRONG they sounded GREAT LIVE. They had me dancing and the crowd jumping.


Now let me tell you a little about the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. They're a alternative group from New York City that was formed in 2000. Members are Karen O (vocals), Nick Zinner (Guitarist), and Brian Chase (Drummer). A few Bands they supported were The Strokes and White Stripes, just to name a few.
Their most recent ALBUM is "It's Blitz" it was released in March 2009.
