Indie music started making it mainstream around early 2000's. One Band I'll never forget is THE KILLERS. In 2004 "Somebody Told me" came out, and I remember thinking this Band is AMAZING.


Their first album "Hot Fuss" was so unique and great. I thought to myself how will they follow up to this album, and so they did with "Sam's Town". Sam's Town came out late 2006, another great SUCCESS!

In 2006, I went to go see The Killers Live in Los Angeles,CA. While I was waiting in line for Beer =] , I saw Tony Kanal (Bassist) of No Doubt. I started making conversation with him, he's a big fan of The Killers as well. The live show was phenomenal. They put a great light show, interacted with the crowd, and sounded the exact same LIVE.


The Killers formed in 2002, two years before "Hot Fuss". Brandon Flowers was dropped from his first band 'Blush Response', and stayed in Las Vegas where he met David Keuning (guitar). The two began collaborating on songs, within weeks they composed their hit "Mr.Brightside". Hot Fuss sold over Five Million copies.

The Killers: Brandon Flowers (Vocals/Keyboards), David Keuning (Guitar), Mark Stoermer (Bass), and Ronnie Vannucci (Drums).

The Last ALBUM that was released was in 2008 which is "Day & Age".

SHE WANTS REVENGE

So let me start by telling you people that I love to download music.It doesn't matter to me if they're not commercial or not even being played on the radio. So their is this band called She Wants Revenge and as I started hearing a couple of their tunes, I thought it sounds like a mixed of new wave and indie electro. Totally Different!!!


Once I heard "Tear You Apart" I was hooked. So later that year I had checked them out at "Coachella 06", only knowing 1 song. I ended up loving the whole show. Song after song I was so intrigued. Later that week I downloaded the whole album. I had to see them live again, this time at the Wiltern theatre. Let me tell you Justin Warfield (singer) = complete ROCKSTAR. Justin literally rocked out with his cock out lol, and Adam 12 is just genius with the sounds he composes.


She Wants Revenge is fron San Fernando Valley, CA. The first album was released in 2006 "She Wants Revenge". Here is an interesting fact, the single from that album "Tear You Apart" music video was directed by Oscar-Nominee Joaquin Phoenix. The group formed their own label, Perfect Kiss in 2008.


Musically, their influences are New Order, Depeche Mode, and The Psychedlic Furs, Sonic Youth and The Sisters of Mercy.

Mos Def

I was in junior high, loving the underground Hip Hop. I would love to listen to Medusa, Zion I, Talib (still do), The Roots,Rakim, Planet Asia and so on. Mos Def to me is one of the best POET. Mos Def puts hip hop in the palms of his hands and turns it into Art.


Now remember folks this is only my opinion, and people can beg to differ. With some people he won them with his single "Ms. Fat Booty", but some underground hip hop heads probably got won over with "Black Star" album.

Mos Def has also been featured in a few good movies as well. You have "Brown Sugar", which I enjoyed. Just because the movie was a metaphor about Hip Hop and romance. Their is also "The Italian Job" which has good action and funny moments. So just to name a few movies, Mos Def can also prove to be a great actor.


Mos Def also known by Dante Terrell Smith-Bey is from Brooklyn,New York. Mos Def has done an album called "Black Star" in 1998, which was a collaboration with Talib Kweli. Mos Def has collaborated with Native Tongues, The Roots, Common, Kanye West, Gorrillaz, and other artists etc,..


The Last ALBUM that was released was in 2009 which is "The Ecstatic"
