In 1983 an alternative band formed by the name of 'Red Hot Chili Peppers'. This band created sounds that combined funk and punk rock. Three of the band members, Anthony Kiedis, Michael Balzary, and Hillel Slovak go way back since Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, CA.
Unfortunately, Slovak died from a heroin overdose on June 25,1985. While Kiedis who was also battling with drug addiction time, Irons (drummer) decided to leave for good. So along came John Frusciante and Chad Smith the newcomers for the band. After a few successful albums released such as "Mother's Milk" & "Blood Sugar Sex Magik". Frusciante had also become addicted to hard drugs and left the band in mid early 1992. Former guitarist of Jane's Addiction Dave Navarro, came along but did not stay too long with the band.
A few influences that influenced Red Hot Chili Peppers are George Clinton, Led Zeppelin, Talking Heads, Bootsy Collins, and Funkadelic.
